Building of an underground retarding basin along the Ausa Canal in Piazzale Kennedy in the town of Rimini.

The area of the works includes the whole Piazzale Kennedy in the Municipality of Rimini, which hosts an operative construction site for the basins, and part of Piazzale Medaglie D’Oro for adjustment within the existing basins.

Piazzale Kennedy is a critical point for tourism in Marina Centro and it is an important hub for the road network of a completely urbanized area.

The works basically envisage the construction of two underground basins, a retarding one and a rainwater collection one, in addition to the remaking of the existing Ausa channel.

A series of preliminary activities were initially carried out, namely the elimination of existing underground structures in order to make it easier to realize the special foundations.

To complete the special foundations (diaphragms and piles of remarkable size), the reinforced concrete works were started, proceeding by blocks and within limited spaces.

On the extrados of the basins, structures covering the technical areas necessary to operate the systems and very expensive finishes are envisaged.

The position of the construction site and the small work areas required to perform a detailed and continuously developing study of the site and specific operating procedures.

Services provided: Health and safety consultant with reference to the building of the new retarding system.

Works to interconnect the Romagna Waterworks with the plants in the Ravenna area: new Standiana water conditioning plant.

The works were made by Romagna Acque in order to achieve an efficient interconnection between the Romagna Waterworks adduction network and the systems in the Ravenna area.

The new water conditioning plant, to be used in addition to the existing one located in Baiona area, is located at Fosso Ghiaia. It envisages the water off-take from the Emiliano Romagnolo Channel and it is characterized by a flow-rate of 1,100 l/sec. The project consists of the construction of a new water conditioning plant equipped with up-to-date technologies, the building of a station pumping the processed water leaving through three lines, namely: interconnection with the existing network at the Russi and Gramadora nodes and connection with the processing system in the Baiona area, as well as the envisaged completion and finishing works, aiming to raise functional and management standards in the new water conditioning plant, and required for the proper inclusion of the works in the local environment.

Services provided: Safety coordination through a temporary grouping of companies during the implementation phase.

Main line of the remote heating network of the town of Forlì: interconnection works

The municipality of Forlì, in compliance with general register No. 27159 dated 18th November 2004, reached an agreement with Hera to plan operations to develop a remote heating system in the territory of the municipality, implementing the connection between the main line already placed in Viale della Libertà and the heating production station located in the Campus area.

This operation will make connections possible with the public and private buildings along the line, as well as interconnection between the ITIS high school thermal station (potential of about 7 MWt) and the University Campus Cooling Heat and Power Station (potential of about 9 MWt).

The project, with total length of about 1,800 metres and maximum diameters of up to DN400, was divided into three different lots, separately assigned:

- zone 1: including the Forlì Campus and Piazzale della Vittoria, where in addition to a part laid under the road paving, a further operation has been planned in the University Campus area, and a two-way microtunnelling of length 135 metres. To make this microtunnelling, a driving pit and an arrival pit were preliminarily built, treated as confined spaces pursuant to President Decree 177/11;

- zone 2: including the Palace of the Province, where in addition to a part laid under the road paving, connections and adjustments will be made inside the offices of the Province;

- zone 3: including the Forlì railway station, where it is planned to be installed under the road paving.

Realizing the “Romagna Waterworks – 4Lsub2P2 – doubling of the duct Russi – Lugo-Cotignola deviation” – preliminary design, final design and safety coordination during the design phase.

The planned operations are the doubling of the existing line between the Russi cabin and the deviation to Lugo and Cotignola, by installing a new DN600 steel pipe of length over 7.8 km, suitable to increase the supply flow-rates from the Standiana pumping station.

The project aims to permit the following:

  • Full cover of needs of all consumers from Faenza to Alfonsine, with a wide possibility of homogeneously mixing the resources from the Ridracoli reservoir and from the Standiana plant.

  • A major distribution potential, in order to meet future increased demands from consumers.

  • The possibility to guarantee the water supply to the town of Faenza with the resource produced at Standiana plant.

  • The possibility to transfer part of the resource from the Ridracoli reservoir to the Standiana node.

  • A remarkable reduction of energy consumption at the pumping station from the Standiana system, to supply the line towards Russi and the Lugo area.
