Consolidation of the rock of San Leo
Consolidation of the rock of San Leo
Validation verification of the execution design for the completion of the consolidation of the eastern side of the rock of San Leo (RN).
The aim of this project is to prevent and reduce the detachment and fall of material from the rock, which is altered and in poor stability conditions: active defence works are foreseen in order to improve the mechanical resistance of the rock in depth, to limit physical degradation and superficial erosion processes, in addition to the collection of infiltration water, which is clearly present due to the appearance of water along the rock sides.
An inspection proved that the eastern side of the rock of San Leo has several types of fractures, which might lead to detachment of blocks of rock, potentially disastrous for the stability of the rock and related access road, as well as for the people present, local inhabitants or tourists.
The project includes a series of consolidation works on large parts of the rock sides, between the last bend of the road leading to the fortress and the fortress itself: the project strategy is mostly based on deep anchors made of Dywidag bars, steel meshes panels with ropes and nails, as well as detachment, demolition and cleaning operations.

Completion works for the planned electro-hydraulic equipment in the Po “Palantone” pumping system in the territory of Salvatonica di Bondeno (FE), belonging to the Emiliano Romagnolo Channel.
Completion works for the planned electro-hydraulic equipment in the Po “Palantone” pumping system in the territory of Salvatonica di Bondeno (FE), belonging to the Emiliano Romagnolo Channel.
In particular, four submerged axial pumps are to be replaced with better performing models, each guaranteeing a flow-rate of 5 cubic metres per second: the project includes the replacement of the existing DN1000 ducts with DN1800 ducts and the adjustment of the intake structures.
Moreover, the geometry of the conveyors to the existing groups supplied by Ansaldo will be modified, in order to make sure the existing pumps can be used even when the Po river water level is low, renouncing to the inverted flow while guaranteeing the cleanliness of the intake structures by means of other cleaning systems.
Concerning the civil works, the main operation is the building of an electric booth for new boards and MT/BT transformers, in addition to a deep internal restructuring of the building where the pumps are hosted, required to make them easier to use.
Part of the existing electrical-instrumental equipment, which is obsolete by now, will be replaced, and some other existing equipment will be replaced or updated and restored, namely suction grids, pumps building inner shutters, outer floodgates.

Spagnoli Tower in Carpi
Spagnoli Tower in Carpi
Restoration and conservative renewal works, including seismic enhancement, of the “Spagnoli Tower” in Carpi, damaged by the earthquake of May 2012, 1st part.
The Tower, which was erected in the 14th century, lies in the south-western corner of Palazzo dei Pio, in the historical centre of Carpi. It is a separate and autonomous building, though it is directly connected with the place on the first floor. Watching the complex from the square, the Tower façade, not aligned with the rest of the building, clearly stands out, both for its size and its formal characteristics.
The building occupies four rectangular floors, and its façades have different numbers and types of windows, which prove the deep changes the building has gone through: the only element which confers some sort of uniformity to it is the alternation of niches and windows under the eaves, made in the first few decades of the 18th century.
The project undergoing verification includes a series of structural and architectural works, excluding the systems, the building finishes and the restoration of the decorative paintings, included in a second lot.
The project aims to consolidate all the structures, both vertical and horizontal, refit the underground floor, complete the finishes of the outer walls by installing doors and windows and construct a new underground thermal station in the courtyard, next to the existing anti-fire basin.

Reorganization of the Conca water system
Reorganization of the Conca water system
Reorganization of the Conca water system, within the framework of theRomagna Waterworks: lot 1 – adduction works and lot 2 – distribution works.
The project includes the installation of a new DN500 duct deviating from the low coast line of the Romagna Waterworks as far as the new node booth in the territory of Ordoncione: the pipe is made of spherical connection steel pipes, with extruded polyethylene outer coating and bi-component epoxy resin inner lining.
The A14 motorway will be crossed by means of the microtunnelling technique and using a reinforced concrete protective pipe of inner diameter 1 metre and length 95 metres.
The new Ordoncione booth is on two levels, one of which underground, and hosts the hydraulic and electrical-instrumental equipment required to regulate the waterworks: the structure includes cast-in-situ reinforced concrete beams, partitions and slabs.
The distribution works envisage the installation of a DN600 steel pipe from the Montalbano reservoir control room: next to Via Emilia Romagna, the pipe connects with the existing DN600 pipe, which already has a deviation pit, then it goes on with DN500 steel pipes until it reaches the interconnection pit with the existing distribution network.
A further ductile cast iron DN300 pipe also starts from the deviation pit, feeding the Misano Adriatico distribution network.

Sistema di distribuzione irrigua Ciarle(FE)
Ciarle irrigation distribution system
Primary implementation of the Ciarle irrigation system, in the municipalities of Poggio Renatico and Terre del Reno (FE):
southern distribution duct and pumpin system
The project foresees the works required to convey and keep irrigation water in the existing drain canal network in a zone within the territory of the consortium, covering an area of 5,586 hectares, including a part of the territory of the municipality of Poggio Renatico.
The works include the completion and adjustment of the irrigation water deviation and pumping plant from the Emiliano Romagnolo Channel (CER) on the right banks of the river Reno, located at the bridge of Via Ciarle, in the municipality of Terre del Reno, up-stream the barrel-shaped crossing of the river Reno, and the completion and adjustment of the Southern Distribution Duct.
The water off-taken and lifted by the plant is transported to the distribution network through a dedicated irrigation duct mostly running on the surface, following the morphological humps due to the ancient and the current beds of the river Reno; the duct feeds the consortium drain channels from the beginning, crossing them where they start.
The amount of water collected from the CER for the southern duct is estimated to be 1,675 litres per second, corresponding to an average of 0.3 l/s per hectare.
The Ciarle deviation and pumping plant is equipped with three submersible pumps located inside a dedicate underground basin, each of capacity 1,000 litres per second, with a geodetic head of 3÷4 metres.
